 A New Era in Professional Learning
Speaker: Joellen Killion
Author and expert Joellen Killion was the highlight of the 2008 SDCO Annaul Conference, which took place at the end of January.
Killion debuted principles from her new book, book, The Learning Educator: A New Era in Professional Learning, which were designed to guide our decisions and practice.
Participants explored the alignment between the new Ohio Standards for Professional Development and Killion’s eight foundational principles. In addition, schools and districts engaged in Professional Learning Committees (PLC's) or considering implementing a PLC gained an understanding of how authentic implementation of a PLC can meet the expectations outlined in the principles. Coaches learned new strategies they can put into practice.
